Circle to Square Table Base by Phillip K. Smith III & Burzeen Contractor for The Art Office. Using two plutonic forms as the simple inspiration for this table base, the form twists 45 degrees from a square at the base to a circle at the top.  Designed to be a functional and sculptural piece, the form and its shell construction invite viewers to experience the play of light on the exterior and interior of the piece.  Built from 40 layers of stacked 24mm plywood, each layer is different, yet cut with precision and consistency with the use of CNC technology.  A circular piece of glass is used as the table top.  Dimensions: 18” dia. x 18”h.  AVAILABLE in dining room height at 29.5”

 

Material: 1/2" thin-ply birch plywood - finishes available: light brown, dark brown, charcoal, black and clear/natural.
